Notes | The imposing, life-sized depiction of an elderly scholar in a fur coat is evidence of Rembrandt's artistic ambitions and innovative creative powers during his later years in Amsterdam. His capabilities are proven by the quiet illumination of the effigy in light and shadow. An array of different textures - wood, velvet, fur - are masterfully modelled. Portrayed in the "fruitful" moment in a reflection on next stance. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||
