Own work Flight path traced from:

  • MH370 – Definition of Underwater Search Areas (pg.3; Since the location of the aircraft is a fact, not a creative work, and the map traced purports to show the path that Flight 370 traveled based on primary & secondary radar, the flight path is not subject to copyright.)

The following sources were used to determine air routes in the area (name & which waypoints they pass through) and the coordinates of waypoints & FIR boundaries (These sources were referenced for coordinates of waypoints--which are facts, not subject to copyright):

  • SkyVector (To determine routes in area & waypoints they pass)
  • ICAO 2014 FIR WORLD (FIR boundaries)
  • Malaysia, Singapore, & Thailand AIPs (specifically sections: ENR 2.1 [FIR boundaries]; ENR 3.1 & ENR 3.3 [Air routes]; ENR 4.1 & ENR 4.3 [Waypoints])
  • openNav (A couple waypoint coordinates, namely in Vietnam which doesn't have their AIP freely accessible online)

Background image created from:

Made in accordance with Wikipedia map conventions (namely, the locator map colors & use of the svg template for colors/fonts/icons).
