Some 3,000 individual participants joined the 2020 annual meeting in Davos. An analysis by ''[[The Economist]]'' from 2014 found that the vast majority of participants are male and more than 50 years old. Careers in business account for most of the participants' backgrounds (1,595 conference attendees), with the remaining seats shared between government (364), NGOs (246) and press (234).
