Similarly to Argentina, it has been found that vote-buying in Mexico is most likely in rural and poor regions of the country.<ref>{{cite journal |doi=10.1007/s10611-010-9260-7 |title=Vote-buying crime reports in Mexico: Magnitude and correlates |journal=Crime, Law and Social Change |volume=54 |issue=5 |page=325 |year=2010 |last1=Vilalta |first1=Carlos |s2cid=154628413}}</ref> There are many instances of vote buying that have occurred in the history of Mexican elections, however, there are two main instances of fund in the literature that occurred in the last two decades.
