The term is mentioned in the Quran, in [[sura 22]] verse 17, where the "Magians" are mentioned alongside the [[Islam and Judaism|Jews]], the [[Sabians]] and the [[Nasrani (Arabic term for Christian)|Christians]] in a list of religions who will be judged on the [[Islamic eschatology|Day of Resurrection]]. In the 1980s, [[Saddam Hussein]]'s [[Ba'ath Party]] used the term ''majus'' during the [[Iran–Iraq War]] as a generalization of all modern-day Iranians.
