As of the [[census]] of 2000, there were 5,068 people, 1,929 households, and 985 families residing in Morris. The population density was {{convert|1,183.2|PD/sqmi|PD/km2|sp=us|adj=off}}. There were 2,067 housing units at an average density of {{convert|482.6|/sqmi|/km2|sp=us|adj=off}}. The town's racial makeup was 93.63% [[White (U.S. Census)|White]], 1.76% [[African American (U.S. Census)|African American]], 1.22% [[Native American (U.S. Census)|Native American]], 1.54% [[Asian (U.S. Census)|Asian]], 0.02% [[Pacific Islander (U.S. Census)|Pacific Islander]], 0.63% from [[Race (United States Census)|other races]], and 1.20% from two or more races. [[Hispanic (U.S. Census)|Hispanic]] or [[Latino (U.S. Census)|Latino]] of any race were 1.48% of the population.

There were 1,929 households, of which 23.4% had children under 18 living with them, 42.0% were [[Marriage|married couples]] living together, 6.8% had a female householder with no husband present, and 48.9% were non-families. 36.9% of all households were made up of individuals, and 17.7% had someone living alone who was 65 or older. The average household size was 2.20 and the average family size was 2.84.
