The Bronx has had a long association with music. In the early 19th century, it was a center for the evolution of [[Latin jazz]].{{Cn|date=September 2023}} The [[Bronx Opera]] was founded in the 1960s.{{Cn|date=September 2023}}

In the 1970s, The Bronx was strongly associated with the development of [[Hip hop music|hip hop]] music.
