The [[al-Nusra Front]], the Syrian branch of Al-Qaeda, praised the attacks, saying that even though they viewed ISIL as "dogs of [[Jahannam|hellfire]]", they applauded when "[[Kafir|infidels]]" get attacked by ISIL.<ref name="middleeasteye1"/>
