Lubbock's main newspaper is the daily ''[[Lubbock Avalanche-Journal]]'', which is owned by [[Gannett]]. [[Texas Tech University Press]], the book- and journal-publishing office of Texas Tech University, was founded in 1971, and as of 2012, has about 400 scholarly, regional, literary, and children's titles in print.
