Hotels and restaurants may secure a prior exemption but even then they are only allowed to serve alcohol to non-Filipino citizens. Private consumption of alcohol hoarded prior to the ban period is tolerated. The Philippine [[Commission on Elections]] may opt to extend the liquor ban. In the [[2013 Philippine general election|2013 elections]], there was a proposal that it be extended to five days.
