By charter, the city has eight council members, each elected for a four-year term on a [[Nonpartisanism|nonpartisan]] basis, and a [[mayor]] elected for a two-year term. Council meetings are held every other Monday night in City Council Chambers. City Council elections are held the first Tuesday in April.
