Al-Qaeda justification for the killing of civilian bystanders following its first attack (see above) based on a [[Ibn Taymiyyah]]'s fatwa was described by author Lawrence Wright,

Rizvi]] has described the chat room reaction of a Taliban supporter to his (Rizvi's) condemnation of the [[2014 Peshawar school massacre]]—that the 132 school children the Taliban slaughtered were "not dead" because they had been killed "in the way of God ...
