In Islam, fasting ([[Arabic language|Arabic]]: {{lang-ar|صوم|translit=ṣawm|label=none}}) precludes food and drink, as well as other forms of consumption, such as [[Smoking in Islam|smoking]], and is performed from dawn to sunset.
