Reports emerged in the summer of 2016 that Huckabee, who currently lives in Florida, was considering [[2018 Florida gubernatorial election|running for governor of Florida in 2018]] to succeed [[term limit]]ed Republican [[incumbent]] [[Rick Scott]]. However, Huckabee later announced that he was declining to run in the [[2018 Florida gubernatorial election|2018 Florida Gubernatorial election]].
