Their friendship led to La Russa introducing Hornsby to jazz bassist [[Christian McBride]], which then led to the formation of The Bruce Hornsby Trio (along with drummer [[Jack DeJohnette]]) and their first album, ''[[Camp Meeting (album)|Camp Meeting]]''.
